Dairy Comedy fans,
Our last comedy show of the year is going to be a great one, with some comics that have been around the block more than a few times and perform in clubs and festivals everywhere!
Without further rambling... here they are, beginning with your headliner:
DEACON GRAY (headliner)
Deacon
Gray
began his stand-up career in 1986 at a small club in his home state of Oklahoma.
Since then, Deacon has performed across the country and worked with such
notable comedians as: Louie Anderson, Dave Attell, Lewis Black, David Brenner,
Drew Carey, Dick Cavett, Dave Chappelle, Louis C.K., David Cross, Ellen
Degeneres, Craig Ferguson, Jeff Foxworthy, Greg Giraldo, Bobcat Goldthwait,
Kathy Griffin, Mitch Hedberg, Bill Hicks, D.L. Hughley, Sam Kinison, Robert
Klein, Richard Lewis, Norm MacDonald, Jay Mohr, Paula Poundstone, Brian Regan,
Chris Rock, Bob Saget, Sinbad, and Wanda Sykes.
In 2008, Deacon
was the grand prize winner of the very first Great American Comedy Festival, held at the Johnny Carson Theater
in Nebraska. Deacon was also chosen as Oklahoma’s Funniest Person five
times, and was selected to represent the state on Showtime in the 1991 National Lampoon Laugh-off at the Sahara
hotel in Las Vegas.
Deacon has also
performed corporate shows for clients such as American Airlines, Sonic,
Firestone, Lowe’s, Cox Cable, and the Denver Press Club. University appearances include the University
of Oklahoma, Oklahoma State University, the University of Colorado, Metro State
University, and the Colorado School of Mines.
Charity work includes the 2010 Diamonds
in the Rough auction for Children’s Hospital.
Deacon has an
improvisational style of comedy that led The
Oklahoma Gazette to refer to him as “a runaway mind train.” In short: no two shows are ever alike. Gray has also trained with the
improvisational groups Second City, Chicago City Limits, and L.A.
TheatreSports.
In 2001, Gray
moved to Denver, where he now serves as New Talent Coordinator at Comedy Works,
overseeing the development of new and amateur comedians.
LEIF CEDAR (feature)
Leif Cedar performs often at Colorado's biggest comedy clubs
including Comedy Works, The Improv and Loonees. He enjoys taking his offbeat
comedy on the road and has won numerous contests including 1st place at the
2013 Great American Comedy Festival (Amateur division) and went to the finals
in the Purina's Pet Comedy Contest and semi finals in the 2013 World Series of
Comedy.
JILL TASEI
Jill is a single Mom of 3 boys, with a corporate
career who has decided to pursue her dream of creating laughter from life’s
little surprises. She uses logical wit blanketed in sarcasm to describe her
experiences. Born and raised in Colorado where she resides, she can be seen at
the Denver Improv and the world famous Comedy Works. She has also performed
across the country in clubs such as The Comedy Store in Hollywood, CA and The
Acme Comedy, Co in Minneapolis, MN. In October 2012, she made her television
debut on NickMom’s Night Out.
JAMES GOLD
James is a writer, comedian, and cartoonist with a background in writing and performing Melodrama and vaudevillian theater. He has performed at Comedy Works, all around Boulder and Denver, and also a few dungeon-like joints in California that are likely closed by now. You can find him on Facebook or follow him on Twitter: @ruggednerd
BYRON GRAHAM (emcee)
Byron Graham is a writer and comedian from Denver. Graham,
who writes about comedy and writing for the Denver Westword newspaper is
verbose and gleefully irreverent comedian, prone to digressive flights of
whimsy. Graham has peddled his jokes far and wide, from hip alt rooms like the
Cynic Cave in San Francisco, to the bright lights of clubs like the Kansas City
Improv or Denver's own Comedy Works --one of the country's greatest comedy
clubs and a place where Graham is sometimes allowed to hang out and crack wise.
He's also logged plenty of time wallowing through the stygian darkness of
thankless open mics all across the country. Follow him on twitter @ByronFG.
