THE JULY 13TH WOMEN'S SHOW

JODEE CHAMPION

A Colorado native, Jodee Champion is a favorite at her hometown Comedy Works in Denver. She travels all over the country to perform at venues like the Gotham in New York City, and Red Rocks Ampitheatre. Being a young single mom inspires much of Jodee’s material—and socially acceptable alcoholism provides the rest.

 CHRISTIE BUCHELE

Christie Buchele is an up-and-coming standup comic living and working out of Denver,
Colorado. From recent appearances at the Crom Comedy Festival in Omaha, NE, to regular shows at
Denver's own Comedy Works and the Denver Improv, this girl reps The Mile-High City hard while
crushing audiences with a wry, biting style that's a bit sweet, a bit surly and really
really funny.

 MARA WILES

A classic middle child, Mara Wiles parlayed her need for attention into a comedy career and so far so good. She has proven a vital addition to Denver’s comedy scene with her quick-witted routines and devastatingly funny asides. Mara got her start with Denver improv group, Impulse Theater and from there became involved with Denver’s thriving stand-up scene. She is also a founding member/writer/performer of Ladyface, her former all-female sketch group. Mara was voted Best Comic at 2011 Laugh Tracks Comedy Festival in Denver.  Mara can be found performing all over at Denver’s best shows like the Grawlix, The Fine Gentleman’s Club and Arguments and Grievances: Debate Show. She has opened for the like of Chris Fairbanks, Dan St. Germaine and Adam Cayton-Holland. When Mara isn’t on stage she can be found trying to get into yoga, reading Real Simple magazine or  writing on her blog arealnailbiter.tumblr.com about motown music, Lady Gaga and her recent kidney transplant.

KENDRA THOMPSON

Kendra Anne Thompson's comedy originated on the East coast in Philadelphia and New York City. She has been a new talent featured performed at Carolines NYC and Gotham Comedy Club NYC. Kendra's comedy is a blend of whitty observation and outlandish storytelling, edgy and feminine, her comedy offers a unique outlook on life. Kendra is thrilled to be performing in her second Dairy Theater Comedy Showcase.

  HALEY DRISCOLL

Haley Driscoll has been doing professional improv comedy since 2007 and stand-up comedy since the beginning of 2011. She was born in California, raised in the Mile-High City and got her BFA in Theater from CU Boulder. Haley has studied and performed with i.O (Improv Olymic) West, The Groundlings, Second City LA and has been featured in national commercials. You can follow her on twitter at @HaleyMDriscoll. Haley also cannot whistle and gives horrible high-fives.

JIL CHRISSIE
(the evening's emcee)

Comedian, poet and writer Jil Chrissie is an entertainer with a unique witticism. She began comedy in LA at the Laugh Factory, and found out there was nothing else in the world she'd rather do than help people smile. She believes comedy is the only suitable career for her, unless hospitals start hiring nurses with a "passion for Grey's Anatomy" degree. She has also performed in a number of comedy clubs across the country. As a poet she stands firmly among award winning slam artist, and performance poets alike.

OUR JUNE 22ND SHOW LINEUP

NANCY NORTON

Nancy is a comedian and professional speaker based in Boulder, Colorado.

Her shows are high energy, in the moment and hilarious to people from all walks of life.

Norton has an extensive and broad comedy background.  She started out in improvisational theater in the 80's and added standup and began touring the US as a standup comedian in 1991 and did several tours overseas entertaining the troops and has entertained on cruise ships around the globe.

Nancy has also used her comedy to raise awareness around human, animal and environmental causes in activist theater and videos for Voxfeminsta and Free Speech TV.  This is where she birthed many characters:  Lesbo the Clown, (a clown with only one skill, wiener-dog balloon animals) who you may have seen protesting animal cruelty at circuses and rodeos, Sri Garee Indiana-from Iowa, (a super silly and insightful prophet for profit) who by guiding us to our lower selves has a way of helping to connect with something greater within us all, and Batperson, (a gender neutral super hero) who protests KKK rallies with Anti-racist bat spray.

You may have seen her on various comedy specials doing standup and her one-woman show, "The Yellowish-Green Girl" aired on PBS and most recently Nancy was featured on Nickmom Night Out on Nickelodeon.

 ELLIOT WOOLSEY

Elliot Woolsey is one of the biggest comedians around today. Seriously, the guy is like 6’5 and a barely healthy 260 pounds. But don’t let that scare you, Elliot loves making people laugh with his energetic comedy. Elliot won the 2012 New Faces Contest at the world famous Comedy Works, and is a regular at clubs all around Denver, opening for national acts like Todd Glass, T.J Miller, and Reggie Watts.

KRISTIN RAND

Kristin Rand's fun, energetic presence has been featured on Colorado's best stages. She's worked with Rory Scovel, Nikki Glaser, Andy Haynes and more. She also writes and performs sketch comedy with Moxie! Visit kristinrand.com for show schedules.

JAMES GOLD

James founded and organizes the Dairy Comedy Showcase in addition to co-organizing Boulder's monthly Amante Coffee comedy showcase. His background includes two years of writing and performing family-friendly musical theatre, which involved excessive displays of jazz hands. But those days are a far cry from the absurd and chaotic comedy he performs now, with material ranging from sandwich-making to having sex to working shitty jobs.

He has performed at Comedy Works in Denver and various dungeons in California that are possibly closed by now.

JON WILKINS

Jon Wilkins is a local Denver Comedian performing at all of the local clubs around town. He also runs a weekly Showcase, Legends of Aurora Pro/Am Comedy Show and a StoryTellers Open Mic on S. Broadway in Denver and travels to Baltimore frequently performing for and east coast crowd. Jon talks about real life issues as divorce was the catalyst to his comedy career and he has learned to harness his genetic Semitic complaining into Jokes.

And we're happy to announce that our emcee for the evening is NATHAN LUND!

NATHAN LUND

Nathan Lund has performed the glorious art of stand-up comedy for 9 years. He has worked all over the country with many talented comedians, including Kyle Kinane, Rory Scovel, and Doug Stanhope. MEDIA RESPONSE

Hello Dairy Comedy fans.

Just thought I'd take a moment to post links to a couple of articles written focusing on our comedy showcase recently.

And also, James Gold's spot on Denver's Comic Cents Radio.

First, there is Boulder's own newspaper, the Daily Camera.
A lovely little article written by the equally as lovely Aimee Heckel.

You can read it HERE.

The next bit of media coverage came from the Denver Westword, in an interview conducted by Josiah Hesse with the Dairy's own comedy show organizer, James Gold.
You can read the interview HERE.

And as for that Comic Cents radio thing, Jodee and Jesse were kind enough to let James on to plug the Dairy Comedy Showcase, and you can see that video HERE.

Many thanks for your support, ladies and gents.
And remember:
